The nerd behind the words.
I’m happiest in a room full of creatives, throwing out ideas that start with: “This might sound crazy, but hear me out…”
I got my start at the Missouri School of Journalism, where I earned my master's in strategic communication, published research on brand loyalty and subsisted mainly on cereal.
Since then, I've been in the agency world—writing about everything from luxury goods to gas station roller dogs. I believe any topic can be fascinating if you ask the right questions and any account can be the fun one if you’ve got a good team.
During long brainstorm sessions, I tend to revert back to my days as a counselor at nerd camp and look for ways to make work feel more like play. And when that fails, I usually just need a good run or deadlift session to clear my head and remind myself I really do love writing.
“Jane has the eye of a hawk, eagle, or other effective raptor; the cleverness of a fox; the discernment of a housecat being offered unfamiliar food; and the wisdom of an octopus or owl, whichever you consider more wise.”
